 Malbank and Geita School Partnership
Welcome to the section of the school website for Malbank School's partnership with the Geita District school in Tanzania.
About Us Malbank School and Sixth Form have decided to focus attention on raising awareness around development issues within the school community, to coincide with Britain's G8 and EU presidencies. As a result, we have formed a partnership with a school in Geita, North Western Tanzania.
Malbank School and Sixth Form College has a successful history of developing international partnerships and we hope that this partnership proves to be a long one. We are focussing awareness in a number of ways throughout the curriculum as well as undertaking a fundraising campaign with the ultimate aim being to raise £10,000 for Geita School. In July 17 of our students will visit Geita to deliver the funds we have raised and work closely with the students of Geita School. Geita School
Geita School is located in the Geita district of Tanzania and is the 17th poorest of Tanzania's 20 districts. The school has a student population of 1,300 ranging from the ages 7-14. The school has a total of 10 classrooms and class sizes vary from 120-150 students. The school has a substantial problem with resources with only 100 books throughout the school and no running water. Geita School, like many parts of Sub-Saharan Africa suffers the effects of AIDS with 1 in 10 students orphaned due to the illness. After meeting with the Head Teacher of the school, it has been decided that the funds raised will go towards building 3 classrooms and developing school resources as much as we can.
The Campaign
In order to raise these funds we have launched a fundraising campaign within the school, with a number of different fundraising events organised. Students throughout the school have conducted individual sponsorship events as well as participating in whole school events. We also welcome any contributions from parents, businesses and other benefactors who wish to make a difference in Geita.
The Malbank School Assosiation is a regd. charity no. 1031947
